W/S Development Associates announced this week that Citizens Bank has signed on to join Legacy Place, where it will occupy about 50,000 square feet of office and retail space at the $200 million open-air mall.
Citizens Bank will move into 37,500 square feet on the second level of the Pavilion Building in the middle of the project, and another space on the second floor of the building that houses P.F. Chang’s China Bistro – taking up essentially the entire inventory of office space at Dedham project.
The bank will relocate employees from Norwood and Westwood to create a “hub” for its consumer and business banking, consumer finance and marketing departments at Legacy Place. Citizens will also open a 3,000-square-foot bank branch and multiple ATMs as it becomes the financial services and banking sponsor of Legacy Place.
“We’re excited because this brings a number of marketing and banking professionals into the shopping center as employees, so it’s going to add another layer of vibrancy or energy to the project. This is definitely a significant addition to Legacy Place,” said David Fleming, the corporate marketing director of W/S Development.
“Legacy Place offers excellent office space at a location that is convenient for our colleagues and with amenities that will provide a wonderful work-life balance,” said Citizens official Neil Grassie in a statement.
W/S partner Tom DeSimone said in a statement that “given the magnitude of Citizens’ commitment, yet another powerful anchor joins the center” – which already has anchors Whole Foods Market, L.L. Bean, Kings, the Showcase Cinema de Lux movie complex and assorted restaurants. Another anchor, Borders, will open in the spring in the building where Citizens will occupy the smaller of its two spaces.
Fleming said Legacy Place remains 93 percent leased for its retail space. The project is 675,000 square feet overall.
Colliers Meredith & Grew represented W/S in the transaction, with Richards Barry Joyce & Partners representing Citizens Bank. Terms were not disclosed for the multiple leases.
