Over the past couple of weeks, the Westwood office of New York Life Retirement Plan Services held a contest to see which team could build the largest sculpture out of canned or boxed food.
Six sculptures were created, including replicas of the New York Life Building and of the Maersk, the ship that was seized by Somali pirates earlier this year.
In all, 4,000 cans of food were collected for the Dedham Food Pantry through the contest. The team of Food Pantry trustee Andrea O’Rourke, a vice president of the company, used 2,000 cans to create a mug, bowl, and New York Life cereal box.
The sculptures were disassembled last week and the cans were delivered to the Food Pantry Thursday afternoon.
