Newton bank referral earns Springwell program $1,500

Springwell, a Watertown-based nonprofit agency providing a wide range of services for local seniors and people with disabilities and those who help care for them, recently received a $1,500 grant from the Massachusetts Bankers Association Charitable Foundation. The agency was nominated for the award by The Village Bank, specifically for its Money Management Program in which several Village Bank volunteers are involved. The bank is headquartered in the Newton village of Auburndale and operates an office in Wayland.

 

Natick's Bright Horizons donates winter coats

The employees at Bright Horizons in Natick recently collected warm winter coats as part of the annual Anton's Cleaners' Coats for Kids drive. The coats were dropped off at Anton's Cleaners in Framingham. Through the program, Anton's will clean the coats for free before partnering with a network of social service agencies that help to distribute the coats to those in need throughout the region. Natick's Verity helps load trucks with toys

Bank of America's Felisha Bruno, Bill Fenton, Melissa Alpert and Alicia Verity of Natick recently loaded toys to be distributed to residents of Boston. Bank of America donated $25,000 and held an employee toy drive to provide holiday toys to more 2,500 needy Boston families.

 

Training Associates supports Toys for Tots

The Training Associates (TTA), a Westborough-based provider of trainer consultants and solutions, recently teamed up with the U.S. Marines for its annual Toys for Tots holiday drive.

 

Mercury named advertising agency for eDiets.com

Mercury Media, a privately owned, full-service direct response media agency, was recently named the advertising agency of record by eDiets.com Inc. The Marlborough-based agency is responsible for all aspects of direct response television advertising media buying for eDiets, an online provider of personalized nutrition, fitness and weight-loss programs, including strategic planning, media buying, results tracking and optimization.

 

Landscape group joins forces with GreenCare

The Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals (MLP) in Natick is teaming up with GreenCare for Troops, a nationwide outreach program that connects local landscape professionals with men and women serving the United States in the armed forces away from home. To date, GreenCare for Troops has helped more than 2,400 volunteers provide free lawn and landscape services to thousands of military families nationwide. Bigelow Nurseries of Northborough has signed on as the first lead sponsor of MLP's GreenCare for Troops initiative. It will offer a 10 percent discount for any MLP member who assists a GreenCare for Troops family. Families interested in applying for assistance, or contractors interested in volunteering can contact GreenCare for Troops on the Web at www.projectevergreen.com/gcft/ or call toll-free 877-758-4835.

National Grid offers power outage reporting Web site

National Grid recently launched ``Outage Central,'' the next generation of enhanced online storm and power interruption information systems, designed to give emergency service providers, state, county and municipal officials, customers and the general public more comprehensive and timely information about power outages and storm response than ever before. ``Outage Central'' is accessible from any Internet-ready computer at www.nationalgridus.com. To view the system, simply choose your state on the ``Outage Central'' image or from the ``Electricity'' column in the regional list. Once you have selected a state, click on the ``Outage Central'' image to view a map of current outages as well as summarized information in text format. In addition, the ``Outage Central'' link is located in the top navigation of all regional National Grid electric Web pages. Account information is not needed to see reported outages. National Grid is based in Waltham.
