BOSTON -- Bruins center Patrice Bergeron will make his preseason debut Saturday night in Detroit.
Bergeron hasn't played in the first three games as he comes back from the multitude of injuries (separated shoulder, cracked ribs, torn rib cartilage, punctured lung) that struck him in the Stanley Cup Final.
The center said Thursday the next step for him in his recovery is to play. He's been in battle drills for the past week and, although he still feels tenderness in his ribs from torn cartilage, felt ready to play.
"Playing games, nothing is going to replace that," Bergeron said. "It’s the only way you can know and I think I’m there now."
With Bergeron playing, every player will have played in the preseason with three games to go after Saturday.
