To the surprise of no one, the murder of Jennifer Martel made the national news shows Saturday morning.
And to the surprise of no one, her name was barely mentioned.
I've spent a lot of my life in a newsroom, so I do understand. It's the fact the accused killer is the son of a Boston legend that elevates the story to the national level.
But I can't help being disgusted that Martel's name seems to matter so little, and that so few of these stories actually garner national attention.
If a celebrity isn't involved in some way, domestic violence is just too commonplace to rate. If all stories got reported, there wouldn't be time for any other news.
