Nadine Suhrbier, of Winchester, has been selected from among nearly 1000 applicants to participate in the Paradise City Arts Festival, Nov. 21, 22 and 23, at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough.

Her original work in fabric morphed into fantastical creatures ranging from tiny Krunks and Gladabouts to dragons of all personalities.

For more than 25, Suhrbier has exhibited at juried craft and art shows and sold to selected shops and galleries under the name Zugglesnooks. The Zugglesnooks dragons and other soft sculptures share a common origin. They pop from a fertile imagination and frequently interpret human characteristics. The result is sometimes serendipitous.

Paradise City was named the No. 1 art fair in the United States for 2008 by AmericanStyle Magazine. The magazine described the fair by stating, “After two years in second place, the Paradise City Arts Festivals have earned the top spot in AmericanStyle magazine’s 2008 Top 10 Fairs & Festivals readers’ poll.”

AmericanStyle declared Paradise City to be “innovative, always fresh and vibrant, with the best selection anywhere.”

Suhrbier lives on Chestnut Street.

A distinguished jury of arts professionals viewed 5,000 images last April in a painstaking review process, choosing only 175 artists from all over America for this prestigious show. The applicants’ work was judged on the basis of imagination, technical excellence, design and originality.

The event that The Boston Globe has declared “the jewel of craft shows” promises to be an opportunity to spend a weekend surrounded by creativity, imagination and beauty. From emerging to established artists, attendees will see the newest work at the cutting edge of design at Metro Boston’s most acclaimed show of fine art and contemporary craft.
